Turbocharged Pony: Under the hood The hood vents on the 2019 Mustang EcoBoost feed a highly sophisticated direct fuel-injection 2.3-litre turbocharged in-line four-cylinder engine, mated to a standard six-speed manual or optional all-new 10-speed paddleshift automatic. With an aluminium block and head, featuring an integrated exhaust manifold, it produces 224kW and 441Nm and uses a twin-scroll turbocharger. The Mustang EcoBoost’s turbocharger has been tuned for optimal spooling to deliver a smooth torque curve yet low-end responsiveness behind the wheel. It also features forged conrods, lightweight pistons with steel rings, and twin independent variable cam timing.

A new 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, now available with both EcoBoost and V8 engines, is the best automatic Mustang has ever offered and boasts Ford-patented technology. With a wide-ratio span and optimised gear spacing, this all-new transmission helps deliver higher average power for acceleration – improving responsiveness and performance. Compared to the previous six-speed, the new 10-speed transmission improves shift times, low-speed tip-in response and reduces friction losses.

The six-speed manual transmission for both engine options has been upgraded for optimal torque, and now includes a dual-mass flywheel to deliver more efficient clutch modulation, delivering improved NVH and higher torque capability.

Mustang EcoBoost: unmistakable style for 2019 Available in Convertible and sleek Fastback body styles, Mustang EcoBoost brings with it a fresh visual upgrade for 2019. Its more athletic and contemporary exterior design includes a lower, remodelled bonnet and grille for a meaner, leaner look, and a new front splitter for improved handling and improved fuel economy. For the first time, the entire Mustang line-up features all-LED front lights, including iconic tribar daytime running lamps (DTRLs) plus there are revised LED taillamps, new bumper, fascia and an optional performance spoiler. The classic long-bonnet, swooping roofline and short-tail is punctuated by the standard black 19-inch alloy wheels showcasing the Brembo brake calipers. Leading to revised taillight design, a black rear diffuser houses quad-exhausts, with rolled finishing for 2019.

Improved materials, higher quality finishes and smart design elements are central to changes for the 2019 Mustang EcoBoost interior. These include dash and console coverings, as well as revised spun aluminium look dash applique for more tactile, premium cabin feel.

Further cabin enhancements include a new 12-speaker 1000W B&O Play audio system as standard on every Mustang EcoBoost for 2019. With a 10-channel amplifier, sound engineers have specifically tuned the system for both static and dynamic situations, to ensure a consistently immersive audio experience regardless of the surrounds.
